Is 2 Ingredient Dough Weight Watchers-friendly?

I don’t know where the recipe for 2 Ingredient Dough originated. I got it from a friend who isn’t on Weight Watchers. However, I know a lot of people who are on WW use two ingredient dough because an entire batch of 2 Ingredient Dough is only 12 WW Freestyle points.

If you are considering Weight Watchers, check out our 9 Tips For Getting Started On Weight Watchers post.

Do you have to use non-fat Greek yogurt in 2 Ingredient Dough?

The aforementioned Weight Watchers points are if you use non-fat Greek yogurt. Since most people on Weight Watchers are concerned with WW points, they prefer to use the lower point non-fat Greek yogurt to make 2 Ingredient Dough.

If you want to use full fat Greek yogurt to make your 2 Ingredient Dough you can. Just note that the WW points won’t be the same.

If you’re not concerned about Weight Watchers, then non-fat or full-fat Greek yogurt will both work. And, actually, you can substitute sour cream for the Greek yogurt portion and it works as well.

Pizza is a staple in our house. Pete makes it all the time. But honestly, his dough recipe is a little bit of a pain because it comes out best if the dough rests for 24 hours before use.

This 2 Ingredient Dough Pizza is exactly the opposite. The dough doesn’t have to rest at all, and you can make the pizza so quickly, making this the perfect weeknight meal.

How to make 2 ingredient dough less sticky? ›

If dough is too sticky to knead, add more flour, 1 Tbsp at a time, until no longer sticky; let sit five minutes. Divide dough into 8 equal pieces and roll or form into the shape for your desired recipe.

Why is my Greek yogurt dough so sticky? ›

Your dough can become sticky when you add too much water or the flour isn't suitable for the type of dough you are making. Over proofing or fermenting the dough can also result in the gluten structure weakening causing sticky dough.

Should refrigerated dough be brought to room temperature before baking? ›

As a general rule of thumb, you should refrigerate cookie dough for at least 30 minutes and up to 24 hours. More than that, and you won't see a noticeable difference in the final product. Once the dough has chilled, let it warm up at room temperature until it's just pliable (about 5 to 10 minutes).

What happens if you don't refrigerate dough before baking? ›

Popping your dough in the fridge allows the fats to cool. As a result, the cookies will expand more slowly, holding onto their texture. If you skip the chilling step, you're more likely to wind up with flat, sad disks instead of lovely, chewy cookies.

Why does Greek yogurt work in dough? ›

With just self-rising flour and plain Greek yogurt, you can make almost any bread-based creation you can think of. Thick, Greek-style yogurt gives the dough its moisture and tenderness, while the leavening agents in the flour allow the dough to rise without yeast.

What is a substitute for self-rising flour? ›

It's easy to make a self-rising flour substitute at home. Here's our Test Kitchen's simple method to make self-rising flour: For every cup of self-rising flour, substitute one cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon baking soda.

Does butter make dough less sticky? ›

The less fat in the dough, the less rich and tender the bake. It is possible to add too much butter to bread dough. Too much butter will result in a very soft, sticky dough that's difficult to shape, and bakes up greasy and dense.

How long does two ingredient dough last? ›

To store: Wrap any leftover dough in parchment paper and store it in an airtight container in the fridge for a maximum of 4 hours. Any longer and it will become too sticky. I do not recommend freezing this dough.

Is self-rising flour the same as all-purpose flour? ›

While it's similar to all-purpose flour, self-raising flour isn't as rich in protein as all-purpose flour. Also like all-purpose flour, self-rising flour is enriched with added nutrition. It also contains salt and baking powder that has been distributed evenly throughout the flour and acts as a leavening agent.

Can you over knead dough? ›

Some doughs can be really heavy, and might be too much for your mixer to handle. Letting a stand mixer do the work can potentially lead to over-kneading the dough. It's a lot harder to over-knead dough with your hands, because you get a good feel for the dough, and will notice as the texture changes.

How do you freeze 2 ingredient dough? ›

Tightly wrap the dough with plastic wrap. You can also cut it up into portions and wrap them up individually. The dough will last 3 days refrigerated or 1 month frozen. So double up on the recipe and have it ready for whenever you need some dinner rolls.

Can you keep mixed dough in the fridge? ›

When you put your dough in the fridge it slows the yeast activity down. It takes ten times longer for dough to rise in the fridge than it does at room temperature. This means you can put your dough in the fridge overnight or whilst you are at work and come back to it when you are ready.

How long can you keep uncooked dough in the fridge? ›

Homemade dough, when stored in an airtight container, is best to use within 3-5 days, but may be good up to one week. To assist in your baking, consider pre-scooping the dough for storage in a container with a lid or rolling the dough into a log and wrapping it in plastic wrap.

Can you refrigerate unused dough? ›

Making dough ahead of time is a great way to have fresh baked goods without as much work. You can refrigerate for a short time or freeze it for about 1 month, while you can keep pizza dough frozen for slightly longer (about 3 months), as it doesn't rely as heavily on the yeast when you take it out to bake.
