Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (2024)

Once you complete your first run, you will realize that, compared to previous games in the series, and in the same way as the original game from 2005, Resident Evi 4 is not a short game.

Despite this, performing a playthrough in less than 8 hours to unlock this trophy is quite possible, especially if you do it in a New Game+and with the infinite weapons you may have already unlocked. The Roadmap stated at the beginning of this guide recommends "speedrunning" the game under Professional difficulty as soon as possible while using the infinite Rocket Launcher in order to unlock Ashley'sArmor, however, you can accomplish this trophy's requirements in any of your other playthroughs!

Having said that, while you shouldn't have any trouble doing it with all your knowledge so far (and the raw power of your weapons), here are some "skips" found by the community of speedrunners that can help you a lot to speed up your progress through the game (especially on higher difficulties). Keep in mind that more skips could be discovered, so the information will be updated accordingly. Likewise, "clipping" through some doors will not be included in this section because they require changing the sensitivity of the camera and may not be entirely easy to execute - or to explain. Lastly, unless used to skip the fight completely, strategies to easily beat a boss (like fully maxed Explosive Mines for the Bella Sisters) will not be included.

VILLAGE FIGHT SKIP

Location:Chapter 1 - Village Town

At the beginning of Chapter 1, you will reach the Village Town, where you will be attacked by a mob of villagers and some Chainsaw men. For those who played this part on high difficulties, you will know that it is one of the most complex sections (and it is minutes from starting the game). Luckily it is possible to completely skip this fight in New Game+. To do this, enter the house where the Shotgun is located (Check Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (1)Gun Fanatic), jump through the window to your right, and from there, using either your Sniper Rifle or your Rocket Launcher, aim at the Church Bell that is seen in the background. If you do it correctly, the Ganados will hear the bell and proceed to withdraw.

BARN SKIP

Location:Chapter 1 - Farm

After the previous section, you'll enter the Farmarea, where you would normally have to go through it (probably facing some Ganados on your way), reach the northern part, go up to the second floor through a barred door, and from there, proceed to enter the barn from the window to get the Wooden Cog. Now, you can skip all of the above by approaching one of the Barn's windows and from there shooting the lock on the door to open it.

LEAVE ASHLEY BEHIND

Location:Chapter 5 - Church
(CURRENTLY PATCHED AS OF v1.05)

At the beginning of Chapter 5, you will need to help Ashley climb up a wall so she can go drop the ladder to the third floor of the Church.

In this room it is possible to leave Ashley behind and prevent her from following you throughout the chapter (something extremely useful).

To do this, as soon as you go up the ladder, turn left and with your back against the wall, aim the Rifle (with the scope) at the ground moving slightly towards the ladder on the left.

Now while holding the Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (7), let go the scope and spam Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (8)to get down from it, traversing the two floors until you land on the bottom floor of the Church. Now exit the Church and proceed through the Chapter as normal.

MENDEZ BOSS FIGHT SKIP

Location:Chapter 6 - Slaughterhouse

"POTENTIAL SOFTLOCK NOTICE"
(CURRENTLY PATCHED AS OF v1.05)

Once you get to the Slaughterhouse's Merchant, right before you fight Bitorés Mendez (check Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (11)Grilled Big Cheese), you can skip the fight completely by going through the wall. To do this, go towards the merchant and crouch so that your right arm is attached to his table, then, while holding the Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (12)down, press Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (13)(to interact with the Merchant), Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (14)(to close the menu), Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (15)again, and Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (16)one last time. If you did it correctly, you will be slightly behind the wooden. Now, don't move, since you could cause the game to go into soft-lock having to reset it.

From there, walk backwards until you see some wooden crates, proceed forward until you reach the small rocky mountain, and from there, turn left to climb it. Proceed upwards, heading slightly to the left close to the hill until you reach a tree. Jump through it and you will descend behind the house where you fight Mendez, avoiding the fight entirely!

Be aware that It is possible that this glitch might be patched in the future.

EARLY CANNON SKIP

Location:Chapter 7 - Castle Gate

At the beginning of chapter 7, you will enter theCastle Gatearea, where you would normally have to go up some stone stairs to an intermediate floor and from there evade the fireballs from the catapults until you reach the circular platform that is on an upper floor. Once you have reached this place, go down the path on the ground and destroy the counterweight to raise the cannon.

Now, you can skip all this process and lift the cannon sooner if, during the circular set of stairs (before the catapults), you look through one of the bars and shoot the counterweight!

GARRADOR FIGHT SKIP

Location:Chapter 7 - Dungeon

Shortly after you get theDungeon Key in Chapter 7, you will drop into the Dungeonwhere you will face your first Garrador(check Never Heard it Coming for more information). In this area, it is possible to completely skip the fight. To do this you can use two tactics: the first, before the Garrador is released, shoot an explosive mine with the Bolt Thrower in the first corner of the corridor, once this is done, quickly go to the lever room and open the exit gate (on higher difficulties it might be necessary for you to crouch once the door has been opened to proceed to the stairs safely).

In the same way, you can also use a Flash Grenade. To do this, quickly go to the lever that opens the exit gate, turn around and throw your flash grenade. Use the time the Garrador is disoriented to open the door and escape the dungeon.

SUN AND MOON PUZZLE SKIP

Location:Chapter 8 - Battlements

After your first encounter with the Plaga-Araña during Chapter 8, you will arrive at the Battlements area, where you will have to move between the towers solving a small puzzle that involves some switches with the images of the sun and the moon.

In this part you can practically skip the entire puzzle. To do this, after shooting the counterweights to make the bridge fall and dealing with the Zealots and more Plaga-Arañas, proceed through the first door in front of you and, after going up the ladder, aim to the right side between the gate and the wall to hit the counterweight (you can also use a hand grenade). This will cause the gate to open, skipping the puzzle!

But wait, this does not end here. Proceed to the next tower, shoot the counterweight to open the gate, and use a Hand Grenade at the gate on the back (this time on the left side though) to continue on your way!

GALLERY "GOAT HEAD PUZZLE" SKIP

Location:Chapter 9 - Gallery

After you enter the Grand Hall, you will have to collect the heads of three animals for the statue that is located in the eastern part. For the Goat's Head puzzle, go up to the second floor and take the door to the south of the map to enter the Gallery. Here, as soon as you walk across the bridge, a Zealot will press a lever that will take you down to the floor below where you will have to deal with a multitude of enemies.

In fact, you can completely skip this part. To do this, when you are almost halfway across the bridge, point a grenade (hand or flash) towards the balcony where the Zealot appears, throw it, and run quickly so that, during the in-game cutscene, the enemy will die or be blinded, allowing you to reach the key item with ease.

LIBRARY SKIP

Location:Chapter 9 - Library

After completing the animals' head puzzle, there will be a slightly overlooked skip during the short section with Ashley. Here, you can skip the whole Libraryarea by directly setting the time on the grandfather clock (you can check the solution to all the Puzzles in the section of this guide).

DYNAMITE SKIP

Location:Chapter 11 - Mines

At the beginning of Chapter 11, you will be tasked with obtaining some dynamite to destroy a large rock that is covering your path through the mines. To do this you will have to proceed with Luisthrough a section full of Ganados and two chainsaw enemies.

You can fully skip this section if you have a Rocket Launcher (a clear reference to the skips from the original game). However, it is recommended you do this less expensively during a New Game+ playthrough with theInfinite Rocket Launcher.

WHARFAREA SKIP

Location:Chapter 13 - Wharf

At the beginning of chapter 13, you will arrive at the Wharfarea, a sector where you will meet the paramilitary forces of Los Iluminados. This is a section in which you will have to move through a place full of armed soldiers while moving the turrets with sensors that prevent you from progressing. If you let the lights from the towers reach you, or the soldiers spot you, an enemy with a Boar Head and a submachine gun in his hand will come out to attack you.

There is a way to skip this section. For it, quickly go to the first building, jump through the window and kill the Soldier with your knife, from there continue towards the stairs, defeating the Ganado with the bolt.

When you try to climb the stairs, a cutscene will run in which the boar-headed enemy will open the doors (Do not skip this cutscene or the enemy will get stuck in the door). Quickly proceed to the corner that remains free above the stairs, away from the machine gun sensors, and from here
destroy the Boar Headed's machine gun to prevent it from damaging you. In this spot, the enemies of the Wharf area are not programmed to attack you, so you will be safe.

After you destroy the machine gun from the enemy, get slightly closer to him and he will try to kick you through the sensors, which will cause the machine gun to react by attacking him, giving you the opportunity to cross through it and reach the doors safely.

CARGO DEPOT SKIP

Location:Chapter 14 - Cargo Depot
(CURRENTLY PATCHED AS OF v1.05)

There is a way to skip pretty much the entireCargo Depotarea (pretty much the entire chapter) up to the lift behind the room with the Wrecking Ball, however it does involve playing around with the camera options a bit.

To start, go to Options > Camera and raise the level of Normal Gameplay for both the "Maximum Camera Speed" and "Camera Acceleration"as shown in the picture to the right.

Now position yourself with the back towards the gate, crouch and walk backwards towards the door (you may need to mentally count the number of steps before reaching the gate), and as soon as you feel you've reach it, let the Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (39)go and quickly turn the camera (your Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (40)) to the left while spamming Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (41)along the way. If you did it right you will move to the other side of the gate.

However if it is complex you can also skip an important part of this chapter with the skip described below.

WRECKING BALL SKIP

Location:Chapter 14 - Cargo Depot

During chapter 14, you will come to a section where Ashleywill operate a crane with a wrecking ball with the objective of destroying a wall. In this section, you must protect the crane while dealing with a huge amount of enemies between armed Soldiers, Hammer Brutes, and even Plagas-Arañas.

That being said, you can skip this segment almost entirely. For this, after the cutscene with Ashley operating the crane, throw some Hand Grenades at this wall (either x3 small Hand Grenades, x2 Heavy Grenades, or a combination of x1 Heavy and x2 small Hand grenades) to weaken it so Ashleycan destroy it with the next hit of the wrecking ball.

ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN "TURRET" SKIP

Location:Chapter 15 - Stronghold

Shortly after Mike(the backup helicopter pilot) arrives, you'll come to a section where you have to destroy an AA gun turret so he can continue to help you. To do this you must go down the path to the right and climb the tower to reach a machine gun and destroy the turret. Needless to say, this section is quite heavy in terms of difficulty, with Soldiers firing from other machine guns, others using Rocket Launchers, and the classic combination of Plagas-Arañas and Ganados.

A quick way to get past this section is to use Heavy Grenades on the Turret (x2 if you do it immediately after it spawns or x1 if you decide to go to the back of the building the turret is on). Once you destroy it, Mike will come back to help you, making this heavy section go by quickly.

SPECIMEN STORAGE SKIP

Location:Chapter 15 - Specimen Storage
(CURRENTLY PATCHED AS OF v1.05)

Shortly after you experience Mike'stragic demise, you will enter the Specimen Storage, a small area with a few bags that Regenerators can spawn from. Now, it is possible to skip both doors in this place (gaining a few small seconds). To do this, position yourself with your back to the door and aim your Rifle with the scope to the ground, release Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (47)and quickly press Resident Evil 4 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com (48)to go through the door. It's that simple!

SANCTUARY ENTRANCESKIP

Location:Chapter 15 - Sanctuary Entrance

The last heavy section in terms of enemies takes place near the end of Chapter 15, before entering the Sanctuaryof Los Iluminados. In this section, you'll need to get to the top building, going through a section with Novistadores, land mines, bear traps and heavily armed Ganados. Once here, deactivate the machine gun with the sensors that prevent your passage and get to the Sanctuary.

Similar to the Wharf area, you can use the sensor machine guns to skip this area. To do this, head up the stairs on the left side (by killing the camouflaged Novistador), and from there follow the path towards the second steep section (watch out for the Boar Headed Brute on higher difficulties).

After going up the stairs, position yourself with your back to the sensors, and you will see that several Novistadores will come out to attack you, one of which will launch toward you making you pass through the sensors and perish in the attempt (it is also possible that the Soldier with the Rocket Launcher will shoot you and the impact will cause you to pass through the sensors, however, this could end your life on higher difficulties if you are low on health). Proceed towards the Sanctuary and finish the game in less than 8 hours!
