Additionally, Intuit released details about the new features that will be included in QuickBooks Desktop 2022. While QuickBooks Desktos transition to the subscription model comes as a shock to some, most will appreciate the added benefits.

Introducing QuickBooks Desktop Plus 2022
Versions of QuickBooks Desktop Plus for Windows include Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Accountant Plus, and all editions of Desktop Enterprise. The features below apply to all editions, unless stated otherwise.
New Annual Subscription Model
With the new release of QuickBooks 2022, Intuit will be switching from an outright purchase of your license to a subscription model similar to that of QuickBooks Enterprise and QuickBooks Online. This switch ist all bad though, with their new subscription model, you will gain:
- Latest version access, with the most current features, advanced security patches, and support for 3rd-party application alterations.
- 64-bit computing power – Increased reliability, and QuickBooks will operate up to 38% faster!
- Unlimited customer and technical support and data recovery, all at no additional charge (this is a $300 annual value)
- Premium automation and money-management features and workflows
- Productivity increases with the launch of the new QuickBooks Desktop mobile app (launching on October 12, 2021)
New Features in QuickBooks Desktop Plus 2022
1. Online Bill Payment with Melio®
You can access Online Bill Payment with Melio by selecting Vendors > Pay Bills. When you pay a vendor bill with a type of payment that includes an individual fee for processing, QuickBooks will create a vendor called Melio and allocate the fee as a vendor bill. QuickBooks will record the bill as paid as charges are deducted from your source of funding.
Features of Bill Payment by Melio include:
- Schedule your payments for a specific day
- Payments can be made in ACH, Debit, or Credit Card
- Payments can be made to vendors as ACH or paper checks
2. Bill Auto-creation, Uploaded by Vendor Bill Mobile
With the bill upload feature, you will have the ability to snap a picture and upload a bill. You can also do so manually in QuickBooks by selecting Vendors > Upload and Review Bills in the menu bar. The QuickBooks Desktop app is available for both Android and Apple devices.
Features of mobile uploads include:
- Upload vendor bills by snapping a picture in the mobile app or have vendors email their invoices to your customized QuickBooks email
- Images are processed using artificial intelligence and machine learning to produce a transaction of your vendor bill for review
- Digital copies of vendor bills are stored in the same location as your QuickBooks Desktop file on your computer.
3. Emailable & Customizable Vendor Bill Payment Stubs
Increase quality and consistency of vendor communications using the emailable and customizable customize vendor bill payment stubs. The payment stubs can be modified in templates in the Lists menu or on the formatting ribbon of a displayed vendor bill payment transaction.
4. Selection of Multiple Email Addresses per Customer
You will now be able to choose from a drop-down selection of customer email addresses when emailing invoices to customers.
5. Discovery hub
Select Discover Hub from the top right on the menu bar to view the new features in QuickBooks Plus 2022.
New Features for Users with QuickBooks Payments Accounts
1. Pre-Pay URL Links
You can now send URL links to allow your customers to make pre-payments without having to send an invoice. To access the URL link, select Customers > Payment Links from the menu bar.
2. Instant Deposits
Payments from Merchants can now be instantly deposited into the business bank account. From the menu bar, select Customers > Billing Solutions > Download Payments to view instant deposit details and accept the deposit.
New Features for Assisted Payroll Subscribers
1. Assisted Payroll Activation
A simpler, easier, guided Assisted Payroll activation process.
2. Next Day Direct Deposit
You can now process payroll prior to 5:00 pm, PST the day prior to payday. Then, funds will be debited on payday.
New Feature for QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 22.0
A/P Approval Process
The new QuickBooks Enterprise 2022 includes an A/P approval process. This process can be accessed by selecting Company > Track and Approve Transactions.
The A/P Approval Process includes these features:
- Define your own customizable vendor bill approval process
- Organize bills on a dashboard that require specific approval before receiving payment
- Know the status of vendor bills with email notifications to selected approvers and the accounts payable clerk
Additional Fee Required Features
e-Commerce Integration Add-on with Webgility®
Select Company > My Company from the menu bar. Here you can choose from three different integration packages.
Features include:
- Store integrations with Big Commerce, Magento, Shopify, and WooCommerce
- Online marketplace integrations with Amazon, eBay, and Walmart.com
- Shipping provider integrations with FedEx, ShipStation, Stamps.com, and UPS
